Once upon a time, a normal happy and healthy baby named Amir was born. At 18 months of age, in August 1998, young Amir fell into our neighbour’s fish pond. He suffered a near drowning, which left him in a coma for 3 ½ weeks and thereafter severely brain injured . He spent 21/2 months in the ICU and then in the pediatric ward. We were told he would live. Amir spent that whole year in and out of hospital, living on a fine thread.
We then set out on the journey to recovery. This brought us to many countries and down many paths in search of improving our boy's quality of life. Along the way we found that it was not easy for a parent to care for a child with special needs in Malaysia. With incredible family support and strength, we started to mold this place that we now call Amir's gym, in honor of the young man who changed all of our lives.
Perhaps we can be of service to your child too...feel free to look around and share what little wisdom and experience our family has gleaned over the years.
